In the Beginning...
Many years ago, a Jedi Knight 2 dueling clan was created by a player by the name of JasaWani. He called the clan Big Bad Mother ****ing Jedis--(BBMJ). In time, JasaWani came to be inactive in his leadership role. Therefore, the helm of leadership was passed on to Felix-BH, who provided a server for the clan to play on. Chris Obi-One and Dugster soon joined Felix in leadership.
(BBMJ) was a great success, along with its dueling server, BBMJ 24/7. The clan grew in popularity, and many players defected from other clans to join its growing ranks. As the pool of members grew, one or two rogue members plotted its downfall. They began a campaign to discredit its members and to cause disruption to its games and ideas. Due to the stress of the complications, the clan Angels of Vengeance, (AoV), was formed. (AoV) was comprised of former members of (BBMJ) who broke off due to a discrepancy involving a certain member at the time. Later, a complication involving the ideals and core values of (BBMJ) caused a rift in the clan. Because of these conflicts, the members of (BBMJ) decided to split into two separate clans. The current leadership (at the time) of (BBMJ) (Felix-BH, Chris Obi-One, and Dugster [Later renaming to TsuNAmi]) decided to break off and lead the daughter clan. They wanted to form this new alliance under the banner of friendship, honor, and fun. They were successful, and decided to name their new clan The New Alliance - (TNA).
(BBMJ), which was now under the leadership of (BBMJ)Alboulcan, continued to remain closely allied with (TNA). Both clans were very friendly to each other, and even shared a server. However, as time went on, things began to happen. Member interest began to dwindle, and the server was beginning to coat with dust. At this time, it was suggested that the clans needed each other. After hearing the proposition, both clans embraced the idea. They decided to pool their resources, and reform the old bonds that had been separated during the break.
Henceforth, on the night of Friday, November 15th, 2002, both sets of members decided they would be one clan again. They decided to accept the new by declaring themselves members of a renewed alliance. Thus, they all adopted The New Alliance as their identity. The members of (BBMJ) changed their tags to (TNA), and all the old friends stood strong once more, each vowing that their new alliance would not repeat the mistakes of the past. They vowed to stand stalwart and united.
On Friday, November 15th, 2002, (BBMJ) officially died.
The Angels of Death and Stro's Alliance:
As time went on, normal clan business continued. Eventually, a player by the name of Stro came to become a member of the High Council. Stro was a highly respected member of (TNA), and to this day is still considered one of its greatest leaders. Stro wanted (TNA) to ally with a much larger clan, AOD, which was a multi-branch clan with several hundred members. Although it is not determined if Stro wanted an alliance or, as some suggested, a merge, the issue did cause problems. He was accused of trying to merge (TNA) with AOD.
Due to this issue, many problems soon incurred on the forums and at clan meetings. "Flame sessions", arguments, and a general state of confusion and uneasiness incurred in The New Alliance. It caused many problems. In the end, however, (TNA) and AOD neither merged, nor allied, and Stro left to join AOD. Eventually, he became a high-ranking member in AOD, and since last heard of, was doing very well in the Angels of Death. The issues caused by Stro's alliance, however, left bad blood that would eventually lead to (TNA)'s first major split...
Bound by Honor:
With the death of (BBMJ) came renewed life to (TNA), and its members. The pooling of resources and members nearly doubled the number of (TNA) members. However, things were not boding well for The New Alliance. The large member increase, as well as the addition of the competitively based "gladiators" and "pyramid" matches, the padawanship system, and the recent problems caused by Stro's alliance were a large burden for The New Alliance to take. Soon, the ideals that (TNA) had been built on began to diminish: (TNA) became very strict in its new membership policy, and attaining ranks became an increasingly important goal for many members. Because of the strictness, however, (TNA) soon loosened its reins. (TNA) soon took in a swell of new recruits. Many of these recruits were not well tested, and their character was questionable. The family feeling that (TNA) prided itself so strongly within soon began to disappear.
(TNA)'s large member roster soon became a major concern. As the list of players grew, so did the number of lamers playing on the server. It got to a point where people who were not even (TNA) recruits were posing as padawans on the server, causing problems and inciting arguments. Due to this, many jedi-ranked members were given RCON abilities. However, this did not work well either. Many of the newer members, of questionable character, began to abuse their RCON powers. The RCON powers were then removed from the lower-ranking members. Many were not pleased. The vying for rank, competitive games, swell of members, lamers on the server, RCON abusers, and the recent bad blood from the Stro incident finally boiled over: the members of (TNA) realized that the clan they were in was not the (TNA) that they joined.
A group of (TNA) members, led by TsuNAmi, Jadedone, Nimrod, and Anubis, left (TNA) and formed Bound by Honor, whose tag was =:BBH:=. The remnants of (TNA) were left battered and bruised, with a very low number of members left. The few members left over from the huge =:BBH:= split were led primarily by two members--YellowSnow*God and MaGnUs. Because of their hard work and dedication to (TNA) and its members, they kept the clan alive when it was in its darkest hour. The hard times eventually passed, and things more or less returned to the norm.
The End of Jedi Knight 2 and the Beginning of Jedi Academy:
With a renewed sense of purpose in their endeavors once again, the members of The New Alliance pressed on after the tough =:BBH:= split. After the split, the forums (containing all the arguments, as well as the prior history) were cleared off and restarted, in a symbolic act of rebirth. Within the 6 month period from the time of the =:BBH:= split to the beginning of Jedi Academy, (in September 2003) (TNA) experienced a relative time of ease and stability. There were little to no problems; the problems that did persist were usually easily taken care of, with little repercussion.
During this time (TNA) slowly began to rebuild its member roster, sticking around 30, more or less. This was also an important time, as well. (TNA) was now being led by a group of members who did not initially form the clan. Many of the original members kept themselves in touch, but few would even consider returning to (TNA). This meant that with the incoming release of the JK2 sequel, Jedi Academy, the new leadership would have some tough decisions to make, as well as issues deriving from the JA switch to deal with, regarding the well being of (TNA). In the end, there were no problems, and the Jedi Academy transition was overall smooth sailing. However, the Jedi Academy experience itself was soon to bring new issues to The New Alliance...
The Departure of Felix-BH:
December 15th 2003. This is a date that will forever remain in the halls of (TNA) history. On this day, Felix-BH, after 6 months of avid inactivity, finally departed from (TNA). The notice was given in an excellent departure letter, written by Felix' father, fellow (TNA)-founder TsuNAmi. In the letter, TsuNAmi expressed his deepest sympathies for having to let go of (TNA), after so much hardship. He also expressed how disappointed Felix was with the situation. TsuNAmi officially turned the administration of the old (TNA) website over to MaGnUs, and Felix' spot on the HC was for the first time in (TNA) history, officially empty.
With this sad thread however, came great comfort: words of encouragement from a great and former leader of (TNA), TsuNAmi: "In closing I wish MaGnUs, the High Council, Council, Master Jedi's and members the very best of luck. The New Alliance is, without doubt, the greatest success in the Jedi Knight gamers world. Good luck to you all. Best Regards, Doug". The great work TsuNAmi, Felix, and Obi-One did for (TNA) will always be remembered, no matter where they allow their lives to take them. The New Alliance owes an eternal debt of gratitude to these great, honorable, and perdurable members of (TNA).
Morpheus[SS}, and the Knights of Darkness:
The beginning of Jedi Academy, for some time, was for (TNA) a very placid time. Member recruitment was steady, and member departure was due more to personal reasons and inactivity rather than major clan issues. However, that all changed the day a player named "The Game" entered the server. Game's initial "incentive" was to warn (TNA) about a "spy" within its ranks, a spy on a mission from clan [*KoD*}, Knights of Darkness, to infiltrate (TNA) and cause problems. The members in the server at the time of Game's revelation were quite skeptical, although the possibility was not totally purged. Many questioned the premise because (TNA) had no prior contact with KoD.
Game continued to come around the server from time to time over the next few weeks, changing his name, eventually, to Morpheus[SS]. During this time, the server IP of KoD was discovered, and several (TNA) headed to the KoD server to find out exactly what was going on. Upon entering with their tags, they were promptly admin abused and kicked from the server. It was obvious that Morpheus had, to an extent at least, been telling the truth. The situation soon escalated when it was revealed that a current (TNA) applicant, Squall, was in fact the very spy Morpheus had warned (TNA) about-- [*KoD*]Sephiroth. The situation continued downhill as time went on. Morpheus himself applied to (TNA), but was never accepted. When asked where he had come from, and why he had helped (TNA) in the situation, he simply stated that he was a former member of KoD, had been wronged by the leadership, and wanted revenge. He continued to play on the server and post on the forums regularly for some time, until a night of revelation came about...
Late one night, Morpheus entered the server to find only 2 members playing at the time, Revan and DarkSide. He challenged them to several duels, and was promptly defeated. He praised (TNA) for its skill, and stated that he was pleased with the current situation with KoD. He began to drive a conversation, which lasted several hours. In the conversation, he spoke of his life philosophy, of his beliefs of human nature, atheism, and morality. The conversation continued, until Morpheus began making strange references. He began trying to confuse the (TNA) members of his true intent; he began making strange comments about the situation in general. By the end of the conversation, [SS] had been kicked from the server, and his behavior reported on the forums. He soon began his own thread, explaining the entire situation: he wanted all-out clan war between KoD and (TNA). He, in fact, did not desire the destruction of either clan. His true intent was display the frailties of human nature, and how through societal banding, one, such as himself, could control people, and bend their will to his whim. He had been playing both clans for fools. He falsified the entire situation to prove his point, and in fact was a member of KoD, [*KoD*]Battousai. He of course showed no true allegiance to the clan, and had been using his position within KoD to help influence the problems from both sides of the court.
In the end, and after nearly 70 replies to his admittance thread, he took his leave, and has been seen only once, briefly, since.
An Era of Stability:
Following the confrontation with Morpheus and the Knights of Darkness, (TNA) fell into a period of welcome stability and prosperous growth. A new website and forums were established and maintained by (TNA)Keeper, and the server was populous and orderly. A steady stream of new quality members easily replaced the older members who, in most cases, reluctantly left the clan to pursue other avenues in their lives. Old members returned home to be re-instated into the (TNA) ranks, or to say hello and inquire on the current happenings of the clan and its members on the forums.
All was well with (TNA), and would stay well for years to come.
(TNA), a Multi-Gaming Community:
(TNA) anxiously awaited the continuation in the Jedi Knight game series to help breath new life into the clan, and were sorely disappointed when Lucas Arts failed to produce. Interest in the aging Jedi Academy game was rapidly dwindling among the members of the clan, and in-game activity was becoming a major problem. A new breed of (TNA) members were coming about; members who loved (TNA) and stayed active on the clan forums, but who no longer actively frequented the JA server. This lead to a steady decrease in new recruits, and a crisis for the clan.
Being the resilient community that (TNA) is, the clan refused to let this lack of support by Lucas Arts bring an end to the clan. The solution that the High Council produced was a conversion of (TNA) from an exclusively Jedi Knight gaming community into a “Multi-gaming” community.
A new clan structure was established which would allow for a separate leadership for each new Branch of (TNA), and a new administrator rank that would oversee the operations of the clan as a whole. Potential games were selected and approved by the Administration for branching; they included: “Call of Duty”, “BattleField”, and “World of Warcraft”.
Unfortunately, the clan soon learned that Jedi Knight was a very unique game and that, while all its members loved Jedi Academy, their taste differed when it came to games outside of the Jedi Knight series. A lack of unity in game choice led to a poor initial member base for each new branch, which led to difficulties in recruiting and providing clan servers. In the end (TNA) was unable to establish a successful branch outside of Jedi Academy, and each branch was terminated over time.
(TNA) still retains the multi-gaming structure it established, in hopes that a game will come around that will have enough member support to succeed.
The Legend of the DarkSide:
With the dark days behind us, (TNA) continued in the years following to be a place where friends were brought together to fight for their lives in the arena. One of the most important people responsible for the longevity of (TNA) will here officially be recorded as being (TNA)DarkSide. A pillar of what (TNA) represents, was always destined for great things within the clan since his joining in 2003. And as such we give him his legacy here.
In July 2006, after years of devoted service, (TNA)DarkSide chose to step down from his leadership position due to real life obligations. (TNA) would not have been where it is today, if it would even be at all, without the help of (TNA)DarkSide. And thus we salute him. Wish him all the best and raise this as a plaque to his accomplishments in, and for, The New Alliance.
The Legend of Keeper (Guardian of the Keys; Protector of the Alliance):
The previously stated leaders of (TNA) were, without a doubt, momentous to the success and longevity of The New Alliance. However, there is another among that prestigious group of influential leaders; one that has been far less visible, but equally irreplaceable to the clan. This member is, of course, (TNA)Keeper.
Keeper has been a member since BBMJ, back in the good ol’ days of JK2. Being the oldest member of (TNA), Keeper has worked along side every leader of the clan in the efforts of continuing this great community. Keeper has paid for and administrated the (TNA) clan website and forums over the years; contributing countless hours to the task of keeping our clan boards running smoothly. Later in the history of (TNA), a time period not yet recorded in this account, Keeper also provided a dwindling clan (in numbers as well as activity) with a Jedi Academy server for multiple years--despite the lack of its use and his personal inactivity in the game for years prior--and in doing so kept the clan intact through hard times.
To this day Keeper remains an active member of the clan, retaining the prestigious rank of (TNA)Administrator; and by all appearances will remain with the clan until the day it dies.
(TNA)Keeper distinguishes himself in his raw dedication to the continuation of The New Alliance, and will herein be recorded and honored for it.
